Deconstructing 2024- our relocation and our reuse impact report

While reflecting on the past year, our store manager pointed out that our 2024 vision board included "move everything under one roof". It is rare to actually achieve something on a vision board in under 1 year, but we did it!

We're in the final days of the year and our move, and so many good memories are coming up from 2024. As we unearth forgotten piles, we have been delighted to find some great items we didn't even know we had! It has been heartwarming having our community come by to sift through our mass amounts of stuff to see what they can buy to lighten our load.

In 2024, our numbers grew in several areas thanks to our Press Democrat article in March, Facebook Marketplace drawing in new customers, our phenomenal sales staff, and our incredibly hard working deconstruction crew!

Highlights from the year: we deconstructed a barn in Santa Rosa which started a sprightly competition for the Redwood Barn Siding - which ended up all selling within a few weeks. Luckily it ended up going to both customers due to their needing different sizes. We had mixed feelings about an 1890's house in Ross where we were given 3 days to salvage as much as possible before it was torn down. It was a beautiful project, but we were definitely sad to see it destroyed after our harvest.

Here is a synopsis of our year:

  • 150 tons or 300,000 lbs were diverted for reuse
  • 94% reuse & recycling rate
  • 400+ new customers were served in 2024
  • We deconstructed 1 house , 4 barns, and 3 sheds, and salvaged from 9 other projects varying from small kitchen to whole house remodels,  including the 1 Ross house we were not contracted to deconstruct
  • Over 22 large donations from other contractors and homeowners were received

The best part is, these were all things that were kept out of the landfill! We are hoping that having double the space indoors will help us and our dear customers easily find materials.

In 2025 we hope to increase our deconstruction projects, our sales of reusable materials and grow our business in order to increase our enviromental impact across the bay area.

The future looks bright for GreenLynx and we are beyond excited to welcome everyone into our new COMPLETELY INDOOR space of wonder and delight! Stay tuned for our official soft opening date in January.
